We always take it as a good sign when what one person has to say about a record’s sound completely contradicts what someone else says. Some seem to think Plants and Animals‘ new album, La La Land is a more laid back affair and others seem to think it’s more aggressive. It’s fitting then to be completing the staggered album-reveal today with the last two songs on the record, “Future from the 80s” and “Jeans Jeans Jeans,” two tracks that probably represent the furthest the band goes in either direction on La La Land. And props to The Globe and Mail who counter the album’s multi-faceted nature with an “inspired hallucation” in this great review. Do yourself a favour and pick up a copy tomorrow to make up your own mind.
