Today Brazilian Canadian singer-songwriter Fernie shares a new R&B song entitled “Hopeless Dreams.” This title song of the EP, releasing, on February 14 premiered yesterday on BBC Radio 1’s Future Soul. Listen here at 01:07:20. Fernie is also announcing three EP launch concerts in Montreal, Quebec City, and Toronto. More details will be announced soon.
The new track is accompanied by a video that reveals a new angle of a brutalist world straight from Fernie’s imagination. It was directed by Thomas Fontaine. Fernie expands on the theme of “Hopeless Dreams”: “I had just stepped out of a five-year back-and-forth predicament with someone who didn’t see any value in me. During this time, I had so much trouble writing new material and was on my last lifeline,” says Fernie.
“I had just gotten off the phone from venting to a friend when the lyrics suddenly came to me. I have this preconceived idea of what love should have felt like and I wanted to express the anger, sadness and deceit I had experienced,” he concludes.
