Today Basia Bulat shares a French version of her song “Baby,” available now in digital format. The original version appears on the album Basia’s Palace set for release on February 21. With the release of “Baby (Version française),” Basia is thrilled to announce a tour of the province in the winter of 2026. She will perform in Drummondville, L’Assomption, St-Casimir, Laval, Brossard, and more. Before that, don’t miss the album launch concerts in Montreal, Sherbrooke and Quebec City, respectively on March 14, 15 and 28, 2025.
Basia Bulat tells us about the writing of her new song, which was translated into French in collaboration with Julie Aubé from the band Les Hay Babies. “It’s about how we can’t control how or when we’re going to evolve even when we desperately want to. We keep making the same mistakes until we notice a pattern repeating, and even then, change is hard when we have to fully surrender to it. Could I make that predicament something I wanted to dance to? Could I sing the lyrics with joy instead of the sorrow I was channeling in the past? Nothing in my life has made me want to evolve faster, better, stronger than parenthood and the universe keeps throwing that desire back at me with a laugh and a wink, reminding me that things take time and to just love myself for being human.”
